With winter right around the corner, it’s never too early to start thinking about your holiday campaign. Take a look at our favorite holiday campaigns, and find some inspiration for your next seasonal spot. We didn’t make them, but we love them.
John Lewis “Man on the Moon”
There’s something about evoking the holiday season through the eyes of a child that gives this ad real emotional gravity (pardon the pun). John Lewis’ 2015 holiday spot reminds us that the true joy of the season is found in giving. The messaging still drives customers to the store, but the sentiment is so genuine we don’t mind the sell.
This spot offers a twist on the traditional holiday romance theme, which – let’s face it – can get quite overplayed. That being said, the lead-in is so poignant that we wouldn’t mind if the rest of the spot followed the traditional narrative. Our emotional investment makes the surprise ending so much more effective. In a market that is inundated with saccharine messaging, what’s not to love about a something so delightfully and surprisingly un-PC?
Pampers “Peace on Earth”
This spot is perfect in all its simplicity. Not only does the ad tie into the season’s family-focused sentiment, but it also reminds us that you don’t need bells and whistles to hit home. With a few basic shots, Pampers manages to tap into the simple, sincere meaning of the season and communicate a heartfelt message: we are all the same. We also appreciate a holiday spot that doesn’t scream red and green, reindeer and sleigh bells.
